Get to Know Me
I’m here to help you find lasting relief and mobility from your chronic unrelenting pain, stiffness, and mobility issues, especially when other treatment modalities haven’t created the results you’re looking for.
Do any of these characteristics sound familiar?
You have unpredictable flare ups. You have issues climbing and descending stairs, and you’re tired of relying heavily on the hand rail. Restful sleep is a challenge, and the first steps from getting up from the chair brings either stabbing pain in your foot or deep clenching pain in your buttocks and hip.
You’ve had one, if not several, x-rays, MRI’s, and injections, and haven’t yet found a resolution to your problem. Your stretching routine and sessions of massage haven’t amounted to any kind of meaningful relief by the time you unlock your car door.
You’re worried that you might need surgery but you want to do everything you can to avoid it.
Or, you’ve had surgery in the past, and your symptoms in your back or shoulder have either returned, or are still present. Or you are feeling better since your surgery, but “not normal,” even though it’s been many months or even years.
Turning your head to talk to your significant other is painful and makes you hesitate.
I listen to women who struggle with returning to their normal activities after breast cancer surgery and radiation. They have ongoing tightness and strange sensations and sharp fleeting pains that they had not felt before.
You’re doing the prescribed exercises but something remains “off”. You’re worried that you’re going to be tight, achy, and uncomfortable forever.
They tell you everything is going in the right direction and it will just take time.
I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy, trained in the John F. Barnes method of Myofascial Release, and certified in Lymphedema Therapy and Selective Functional Movement Assessment. I’ve been practicing since 2001.
Despite my education and training, I thought there must be something missing that can help individuals like yourself who want to be active again. I see myself in my clients and was frustrated by their inability to live an active life again despite our work together and the other types of providers they had seen for care.
I took an introductory weekend course on John F. Barnes Myofascial Release. and immediately began integrating the principles into my practice. My patients’ mobility and comfort started to improve significantly, even if the symptoms and limitations had been troubling them for years.
When many thought all hope was lost, they became empowered and educated on how to regain their sense of self and previous mobility.
Combined with postural and total body movement assessment, I specialize in John Barnes Myofascial Release to provide you with a truly individualized treatment plan so you can achieve your personal health and mobility goals.
Your daily life is unpredictable and changing constantly. The interventions you receive are specific to you and your goals. They aren’t based not on a cookie cutter plan, but on what your mind and body needs most on the day you come in.
My Trajectory
Physical Therapist Dr. Angie DeBorja, PT, DPT, CLT has been helping patients since 2001 in the areas of inpatient rehab, brain injury, stroke, oncology rehabilitation, breast cancer recovery, lymphedema, amputee recovery, wound care, postoperative joint replacement, and joint pain.

She was introduced to John F. Barnes myofascial release training when she was seeking additional training to help her patients recover from breast cancer surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation side effects.
Her knowledge as a certified lymphedema therapist and physical therapist were helpful but her patients were still suffering with residual symptoms.
After beginning her myofascial release training, she began to implement the technique into her practice and discovered dramatic improvements in her clients with longstanding issues and who had reached a plateau.
Her approach involves assessment of your total body movements, soft tissue, and posture, and training for optimal stability and mobility. She is an advanced level practitioner of the John F. Barnes Approach to Myofascial Release. She continues to take ongoing JFB-MFR training including repeating courses. She continues to take ongoing JFB-MFR training including repeating of courses.
She prides herself on one-on-one treatment sessions that put the client's goals first. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors, working out at home to Bodi programs, hiking with their Corgi Poodle Mix Zoey, and road biking.
Dr. deBorja is always striving for the best.
